Lucyd Studio Art by LucyD Colour shape and form are art and for LucyD this is no different, however its the many different shapes that make the whole. Life is like this, it’s all its’ parts that make us what we are and who we are today. LucyDs art reflect this concept and can see it clearly in her paintings. Her landscape and portrait work is quite impressionistic with shapes, colours and textures, often using small unformed random marks to make the whole image. This is in stark contrast to her contemporary pieces where she will use simple almost minimalist marks to create a feeling, emption or impression. A little bit of history Lucy has always been interested in art and in fact started out as her dad did in Photography. She excelled at wedding / portrait & landscape photography and had her own wedding portrait business at the age of 19, she was also taking photographs for the renowned poster makers Athena in the 80s and 90s. She gave up photography in the 90s when she became ill and could not swap her equipment for digital and then her two beautiful boys came along in the 2020. However her art moved into dabbling with stone sculpture where she made several pieces from the stone used for Chichester Cathedral. She also became a lighting engineer for a local church, this soon grew into into stage lighting design and did this for around 10 years and worked for some great companies including Chichester Festival Theatre, Komedia Brighton, Portsmouth Guildhall, The Venue, Chichester Fringe festival and many more. After a bad break up from her marriage she moved to the North East and studied interior design at Sunderland University, she thought this would bring all her skills into one place and one profession, she got a 1st honours degree however she found the bass guitar whist at Sunderland and it took over her life where she played in several bands. Kitchy Retro, Joysome, Floral Detectives. Whilst this was a deviation from chosen career path she carried on designing for the bands, working on Logos, Image, Corporate image and promotion. Covid 19 killed the bands, there was no work however LucyD needed to keep going with her art and so LucyD Studio was born and here we are today. artist
