Michaela Abenson born and raised in Manchester, has always had a keen interest in art. Despite suffering from chronic illness from a young age and being forced to miss plenty of school due to hospital admissions and surgeries, she managed to complete her art GCSE and A.S level. With acrylic paint being her choice of material, Michaela spent many years painting on canvas but most recently began painting on MDF wood. At the young age of 26 Michaela has had 8 previous surgeries due to her diagnosis’ of Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Pcos and fibromyalgia. Living in chronic pain is hugely challenging, however painting allows Michaela to express herself. Most of her pieces are abstract allowing her to express herself through shapes and colours. Michaela also finds, when she is working on her art, she can get carried away in her own world and imagination finding it a great distraction from her troubles. Painting has helped get her through some difficult times and recoveries. Michaela has also completed a wig making course and spent 5 years specialising in wig making before her illness made it too difficult to keep up this intricate work. However her art has always been her passion.
