Art is about beauty, imagination, thought-provocation and escapism. I want to make people reflect, but in a positive way; smile, evoking memories of places, people or pastimes; and imagine, taking the viewer to places they may dream about. My paintings often tell a story, but the story I paint maybe different from the story the observer perceives - that’s one of the things I love about art. The beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder, a cliché I know, but very true. I have studied the human form for the past year or so, particularly the female body, and from my studies I have created an abstract style which reflects beauty, mystery, elegance and grace. I use mainly acrylic paints with different textures to create varying effects. I paint using recycled paper, material, twigs, palette knives, objects/tools from around the house and brushes of varying lengths and shapes. My inspiration comes from many artists around the globe, although Picasso is my number one.
