Cold cast bronze poppies. I sculpted this using clay pressed onto slate. From this I made a mould and then I cast in in bronze resin with other metal powders (copper & aluminium) and red resin pigment for the poppies. It’s a complicated and time consuming process but love the effect.
I first started sculpting I suppose years ago at 16 leaving school on a YTS scheme as a wood carver. Fairly recently though I discovered that clay is a great medium for capturing more detail and so have taught myself how to cold cast and have been experimenting with various metal powders and pigments to create my works.
