Spate Huntermann was my father, born in 1934 he died in 2014 leaving behind a large body of abstract work. Originally a design engineer experimenting in his spare time with various visual art forms, writing, and inventing, he discovered that he could make a living through portrait painting. This led to a move to Cornwall where he could concentrate on his art. Later in life, moving to Dorking and tiring of portraiture, he returned to his first love, abstract painting, inspired by Kandinsky, Nicholson, Miro and Mondrian, but always experimenting and developing. He joined the Dorking Group of Artists and became President of the United Society of Artists.
