High Wycombe, UK
My name is Babatunde Ogunekun. I was born on the 23rd of November 1955. Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to be an artist, but was discouraged by my l ate father who wanted me to be a lawyer. I came to High Wycombe, England in 1978 to study Furniture Production and Management at the Buckinghamshire College of Higher Education, now known as the Bucks New University. I am a single father of four, a grandad and I have seen all four of my Children through university. I believe that my love for art inspired my children, as their degree subjects ranges from Fine Art to Interactive Media and Music Industry Management and Artistic Development. In 1987,I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (DMS). In 1998, I started back where I wanted to be , by becoming an Art Technician / Teacher at a local secondary school in High Wycombe. I work mainly in Acrylic, Oil Paint Oil Pastel and sometimes, I use Pencil to do Tonal work. I call my type of Art " Aboriginart " paying homage to the Australian Aborigines. I find by incorporating this style in my work, It enables me to stand out with very detailed, interesting and effective piece of artwork. Since then, I have continued to work around fine art, encouraging young talented individuals, including two of my children, to follow their passion for art as I have done so.
